How We Test and Research
We use the same research process for every guide so readers can see how a recommendation was reached. Unless an article states that we tested a product ourselves, our guides are research-based and we do not claim hands-on testing.
What we look at
- Machine type and control. Semi-automatic, super-automatic or manual, and how much the user has to do.
- Heating and pressure. Boiler or thermoblock design, stated pump pressure and how quickly the machine is ready.
- Grinder. Whether a grinder is built in, how many settings it offers and what separate grinders pair well with the machine.
- Milk and extras. Steam wand or automatic frother, included tools and basket sizes.
- Ease of use and upkeep. Cleaning routines, descaling needs, water tank size and parts availability.
- Build and warranty. Materials, stated warranty and what owners report about longevity.
- Value. What the product offers for its price tier. We do not show prices because they change often; check Amazon for current details.

We draw on manufacturer specification sheets and manuals, published reviews, buyer feedback and community discussion. We link to sources where it helps.
Brew guidance
Dose, yield, time and grind advice in our guides are common starting points, not rules. Every machine, grinder and coffee behaves differently. Try our brew ratio helper to track your own recipe.
Corrections
If you spot an error, tell us and we will review it. We update guides as new models and information appear.
